What stimulus money is it that Californians and teacher’s are getting?

California is paying its residents two different stimulus payments they’re referring to as Golden State Stimulus 1 and 2.

The money is set aside for low income residents that faced hardship during the pandemic.

Two thirds of the population are eligible for the second check set to go out in Sept. and they’ll receive $600 plus $500 if families have children.

All together families may see a one time payment of $1100.

Qualifications include being a resident of California for most of 2020 that still lives in the state, being a 2020 tax filer, earn less than $75,000, and have a SSN or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

States choosing to pay their teachers an additional bonus are Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Colorado, Texas and California.

The funds are coming out of the $350 billion given to schools as part of the American Rescue Plan.

If your state isn’t part of the bonuses, don’t worry. States have until 2024 to use the funds and may choose to do the same thing.
