Kristine Gardner, the Director of Schuyler County Veterans Service Agency, resigned on Thursday after a meeting with County Administrator Shawn Rosno, where she was confronted with allegations of failing to perform her duties.

Gardner, who has been with the agency for five years and served as director for nearly one, was presented with a stark choice: resign or be dismissed based on claims of job performance issues outlined by County Legislature Chair Carl Blowers, according to The Odessa File.

Choosing resignation, Gardner expressed disappointment over the circumstances of her departure. Community reaction to her departure was apparently significant. And county officials did not respond to The File’s request for comment.
