A Canandaigua woman was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration after Wayne County deputies found her asleep behind the wheel of a parked car at a Lyons gas station, the sheriff's office said.
Tonya Caplinger, 36, was arrested following a suspicious-condition call early Sept. 20 in the town of Lyons, according to a department release.
Deputies said Caplinger became increasingly hostile after they contacted her, ignored lawful commands and physically resisted as they tried to make an arrest.
The release did not describe an injury to Caplinger or a deputy and did not report that the vehicle was moving.
Caplinger was taken to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for processing and charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
She also received a traffic citation for parking in a space reserved for vehicles with a disability permit without the required identification, deputies said.
Caplinger was released with appearance tickets and is due in Lyons Town Court at a later date.
