A Canandaigua man was charged with second-degree assault after deputies said he threw a wooden chair at a person during a domestic incident early Sept. 21.
Joseph Burress III, 28, was arrested at about 3:32 a.m. on Middle Cheshire Road in Canandaigua, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
The chair struck the victim and caused injuries, deputies said. The victim remained hospitalized and receiving treatment when the sheriff's office issued its release.
The department did not disclose the victim's identity, the nature of the injuries or the relationship between the two people. It did not describe what led to the confrontation.
Deputy R. Duliba made the arrest, according to the release. The agency did not announce any additional charges.
Burress was taken to the Ontario County Jail and held pending an appearance in Centralized Arraignment Court. The release did not report the outcome of that appearance.
