Seneca Falls man dies at Seneca County Jail

An incarcerated Seneca Falls man died early Monday after corrections officers found him unresponsive and not breathing during routine checks at the Seneca County Correctional Facility.

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Eward Timblin, 62, and said a preliminary investigation showed a medical event led to his death.

Corrections officers discovered Timblin at about 12:45 a.m. July 13 while conducting mandatory checks, according to the Sheriff's Office. South Seneca Ambulance was contacted and responded to the Law Enforcement Center, where Timblin was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Sheriff's Office said Timblin was alone in his cell at the time of his death. Investigators are working with the New York State Office of the Attorney General Special Investigation Unit and the Seneca County Coroner's Office.

Further details will be released after a thorough investigation is completed, the Sheriff's Office said.
