A Canandaigua man was arrested after police said he fled an attempted traffic stop at speeds exceeding 100 mph and nearly struck another vehicle.
Police charged Noah Barone, 21, on June 29 with second-degree reckless endangerment and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. The charges stem from an attempted stop June 23 on the Canandaigua City Pier.
An officer reportedly tried to stop Barone’s vehicle because of a loud exhaust system, but police said he sped away from the pier and continued onto Lakeshore Drive. The pursuit was quickly terminated because of the danger to the public.
A subsequent investigation identified Barone as the driver, according to police. He was released on an appearance ticket and issued 12 additional traffic tickets, with a future appearance scheduled in Canandaigua City Court.
