Two Canandaigua sisters were arrested Friday after an Ontario County Sheriff's Office investigation into a larceny at Lowe's on Recreation Drive in Canandaigua.
Deputies said Brooke Elizabeth Simpson, 35, of Canandaigua, was arrested around 3:17 p.m. July 10 and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. Courtney Lynn Simpson, 30, of Canandaigua, was arrested around 3:45 p.m. and charged with petit larceny.
The investigation began after Lowe's staff reported that on July 7 a woman later identified as Brooke Simpson entered the store through the garden entrance and took an EGO 56-volt 22-inch walking mower, a Craftsman .065 spool three-pack and a hanging flower pot without paying.
Deputies said the merchandise was valued at $1,147.46. Investigators later located Brooke Simpson with her sister Courtney on County Road 4.
Brooke Simpson was arrested at 3688 County Road 4 on the grand larceny charge, deputies said. During that arrest, deputies said they determined Courtney Simpson had stolen weed eater string from Lowe's, and she was charged with petit larceny at the same location.
Both women are scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
