Clyde man charged with animal cruelty after 13 dogs found in condemned home

A Clyde man has been charged with 13 counts of animal cruelty after Wayne County deputies said 13 dogs were found in a condemned residence without clean shelter, food or water. Travis Ryan, 37, was arrested on a warrant after an investigation that began in March 2025, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Ryan was charged with 13 counts of overdriving, torturing or injuring animals or failure to provide sustenance.

The sheriff's office said the dogs included seven puppies. Deputies allege Ryan failed to provide clean and safe shelter and clean and safe food and water for the dogs for at least 24 hours.

The animals were found in a room at 121 W. Dezeng St. in Clyde, according to the release. Deputies said there was a single empty water bowl and dog food spread on the ground mixed with feces, urine and garbage.

The dogs were seized by the Wayne County Humane Society, where they were treated and cared for, deputies said.

Ryan, who was already being held at Lakeview Correctional Facility on separate charges, was transported to Galen Town Court for arraignment. He was returned to Lakeview Correctional after the arraignment.
