The Central New York Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Alliance is expanding prevention, education and advocacy programming into Cayuga County. The expansion is supported by a $10,000 grant from the Cayuga Community Fund at the Central New York Community Foundation.
The alliance said the effort will bring evidence-based education, prevention resources and public awareness initiatives to more Cayuga County communities over the next year.
The organization plans to partner with schools, libraries, municipalities, camps, employers, healthcare providers and community groups across the county.
Melissa Carr Rowe, executive director of the alliance, said increasing tick populations and tick-borne diseases make the Cayuga County expansion a public health priority for the region.
The program builds on the alliance's regional work in community education, youth programming, healthcare provider training and public awareness campaigns.
Community organizations interested in hosting an educational presentation or partnering with the alliance can contact the organization through www.cnylymealliance.org.
The Central New York Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Alliance was founded in 2019 and works to prevent Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses through education, advocacy and community engagement.
The Cayuga Community Fund is administered by the Central New York Community Foundation and supports programs serving Cayuga County residents through a permanent charitable endowment.
