New York has recorded 121 cases of cyclosporiasis since early May as health officials investigate a multistate outbreak, according to Spectrum News.
Officials said the total remains close to normal seasonal levels, though cases have now been reported across nearly 30 states.
The parasite spreads through contaminated food or water and can cause severe diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, weakness and muscle aches.
Investigators have not identified a specific source, but previous outbreaks have been linked to packaged salads, herbs and other fresh produce.
Doctors are urging people to wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly and seek medical care if symptoms persist.
