A Cicero man was killed and another driver was medically cleared after a two-car crash Saturday morning in the town of Seneca, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said emergency crews were called around 11:15 a.m. July 5 to the intersection of Kashong Switch Road and Wabash Road for a crash with injuries.
Investigators said Bruce Eric Peterson, 65, of Cicero, was driving a 2026 Subaru west on Kashong Switch Road when his vehicle collided with a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Christopher Michael Hughes, 41, of Farmington. Hughes was traveling south on Wabash Road, deputies said.
Peterson was taken by Stanley-Hall-Gorham Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for facial and back injuries. A passenger in Peterson’s vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies did not release the passenger’s name in the report.
Hughes was medically cleared at the scene.
Members of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and Criminal Investigation Division responded and are investigating the crash. The intersection was closed for about three hours.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Stanley-Hall-Gorham Ambulance, Stanley Fire Department, Hall Fire Department, Ontario County EMS and fire coordinators, and Mercy Ambulance.
