A Rochester man was charged with driving while intoxicated after deputies said he fell asleep while driving and crashed into a utility pole in Williamson.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Jose Alberto Guerrero Tenango, of Costar Street in Rochester, was arrested after an investigation into the crash, which was reported at 1:20 a.m. Friday, June 26.
Deputies said Guerrero Tenango was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher, failure to keep right, moving from a lane unsafely and possession of an open container.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies determined Guerrero Tenango was operating in an intoxicated condition. He was taken to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, where he voluntarily submitted to a chemical test that showed a blood alcohol content of 0.12%, deputies said.
Guerrero Tenango was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Williamson Town Court at a later date.
