Two Rochester residents were arrested in Waterloo after police said a suspicious vehicle complaint led officers to the discovery of MDMA and unprescribed Suboxone.
Jerome D. Hightower, 27, and Jessica Rosario, 45, were arrested around 8:15 p.m. Sept. 17 following an investigation that began with a suspicious vehicle complaint in the town of Seneca Falls, according to the Waterloo Police Department.
Police said the vehicle was later found at a business in the village of Waterloo. During the investigation, officers reported finding about 14 grams of MDMA, commonly known as Ecstasy, along with Suboxone that had not been prescribed to the two individuals.
Hightower was identified by police as the driver of the vehicle. Investigators said he was impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol.
He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; driving while ability impaired by drugs; and driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs and alcohol.
Police also said Hightower initially gave officers a false identity before investigators determined his real name.
Rosario was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Police said the investigation remains active and officers are continuing to examine the pair’s activity at local businesses.
Both Hightower and Rosario were taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility for arraignment and were later released on their own recognizance.
Waterloo police were assisted by the Seneca Falls Police Department and Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
