A Victor woman convicted of stealing business funds for personal use will spend up to 15 years in state prison following sentencing in Ontario County Court.
Ontario County District Attorney Jason MacBride announced that Monique E. Barrette-Lewis, 44, was sentenced June 18 by Judge Frederick G. Reed to 7½ to 15 years in state prison after a jury found her guilty on all charges in March.
The convictions included second-degree grand larceny, third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud. Prosecutors said the crimes occurred between October 2023 and April 2024 in the Town of Victor.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, the jury determined that Barrette-Lewis engaged in a course of conduct that involved unlawfully taking business funds for personal use.
The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney James Nobles following an investigation by the New York State Police.
MacBride said financial crimes can undermine trust and cause significant harm, while Nobles said the prison sentence reflects the seriousness of offenses involving the abuse of positions of responsibility and trust.
