Geneva juvenile charged after contacting victim hundreds of times

A 17-year-old Geneva resident was charged following an investigation into alleged stalking and harassment that occurred in Waterloo, according to the Waterloo Police Department.

The juvenile, whose name is being withheld because of age, was arrested June 16 at approximately 5:30 p.m. and charged with fourth-degree stalking and second-degree aggravated harassment.

Police said the charges stem from an incident that occurred earlier that day. Investigators allege the juvenile called the victim more than 350 times over the course of a single day.

According to police, the victim repeatedly told the juvenile to stop making contact, but the behavior continued. Authorities allege the juvenile also drove past the victim’s residence, contacted several members of the victim’s family and had third parties contact the victim on their behalf.

Police said the repeated conduct caused material harm to the victim’s mental and emotional well-being.

The juvenile was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear before Seneca County Probation at a later date.
