A Sodus Point man faces felony drunken driving charges after deputies say he caused a three-vehicle crash in the Village of Sodus Point and later tested more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested Paul D. Mcnett, 38, of South Fitzhugh Street, following an investigation into a property damage crash on State Route 14.
According to the sheriff’s office, Mcnett was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated and felony driving while intoxicated, along with traffic violations including moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent, and unsafe backing.
Deputies said they arrived at the scene and found a vehicle stuck in the snow that had struck a post, along with two other vehicles that sustained rear-end damage. Investigators said Mcnett admitted to operating two of the three vehicles involved in the crash.
Authorities said deputies detected the odor of alcohol on Mcnett’s breath and requested that he complete standardized field sobriety tests, which he allegedly refused. He was later transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where a chemical blood test reportedly showed a blood alcohol content of .21%.
Mcnett was taken to the Wayne County Jail and later released on appearance tickets. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Sodus Court at a later date to answer the charges.
