Contract negotiations are underway for 225 registered nurses at Auburn Community Hospital, according to The Citizen. Members of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East began bargaining June 17 ahead of their current contract’s expiration at the end of July.
The union says its priorities include hiring more nurses, retaining experienced staff, boosting wages and protecting existing benefits. Bargaining committee members also highlighted the nursing workforce’s deep ties to Auburn and surrounding communities.
Hospital officials didn’t respond to requests for comment. The nurses’ last contract, approved in 2023, included significant wage increases, though neither side released additional details.
