Cirencione announces endorsements from state police groups

Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione says two statewide law enforcement organizations have endorsed his 2026 re-election campaign.

Cirencione announced Monday that he received endorsements from the Police Benevolent Association of the New York State Troopers and the New York State Police Investigators Association in his bid for another term as Ontario County sheriff.

The New York State Troopers PBA represents more than 7,000 active and retired uniformed members of the New York State Police from the rank of trooper through major, according to the campaign announcement. The New York State Police Investigators Association represents more than 3,000 active and retired members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

"It is truly an honor to receive the support of these outstanding organizations," Cirencione said in the release. "Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside New York State Troopers and Investigators on major criminal investigations, public safety initiatives, emergency incidents, and countless efforts to protect our communities."

The campaign said the investigators association cited Cirencione's "many years of dedicated service" and said he has earned "a reputation among law enforcement personnel that is second to none."

The Troopers PBA said that, after careful consideration, it is confident Cirencione remains "the best candidate" for Ontario County sheriff, according to the announcement.

Cirencione said the endorsements reflect partnerships among local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

"Public safety is strongest when agencies work together," Cirencione said. "These endorsements recognize not only the progress we've made in Ontario County, but also the importance of collaboration, professionalism, and a shared commitment to serving the public."

Cirencione was first elected Ontario County sheriff in 2022 and is seeking re-election in November 2026. The announcement was paid for by David Cirencione for Sheriff.
