Aaron Judge’s first-inning home run set the tone as the New York Yankees (24-11) powered past the Baltimore Orioles (15-20) 12-1 on Monday night at Yankee Stadium, completing a four-game sweep behind an explosive offense and a strong outing from Cam Schlittler.
New York wasted no time jumping ahead. Trent Grisham sparked the game with a leadoff double before Judge launched his 14th home run of the season, giving the Yankees an early cushion. The lineup continued to apply pressure throughout the night, with Cody Bellinger contributing a sacrifice fly in the third and later delivering a bases-clearing triple during a six-run eighth inning that broke the game wide open.
Grisham remained a catalyst at the top of the order, reaching base multiple times and adding another double, while José Caballero chipped in with an RBI double during the middle innings. Jasson Domínguez also contributed offensively, driving in a run after a successful replay challenge reversed an out at the plate.
On the mound, Schlittler overpowered hitters with high-velocity stuff, repeatedly hitting triple digits while working 5.2 innings. He navigated traffic with the help of timely double plays and limited Baltimore to one run before exiting in the sixth. The bullpen took over from there and kept the Orioles in check the rest of the way.
Defensively, the Yankees backed their pitching with several key plays, including a strong running catch by Grisham and a sharp infield stop from Ryan McMahon.
The Yankees continue their homestand Tuesday when they open a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at 7:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium. Elmer Rodríguez (0-1, 4.50 ERA) is scheduled to start against Jacob deGrom (2-1, 2.01 ERA).
