Ten Cornell hockey players earn NHL Development Camp invitations

Cornell men’s hockey will have a strong presence across the NHL this summer, with 10 current, former and incoming Big Red players participating in development camps for nine different organizations.

The Los Angeles Kings will feature the largest Cornell contingent. Incoming junior forward Ivan Zadvernyuk, who is transferring to Cornell after playing at Brown, and incoming freshman forward Louie Wehmann both received invitations to the Kings’ camp.

Four returning Cornell players also earned development camp invitations. Rising junior forward Charlie Major will skate with the Toronto Maple Leafs, while rising sophomore forwards Gio DiGiulian, Reegan Hiscock and Caton Ryan will attend camps with the New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres, respectively.

Freshman defenseman Cole Tuminaro will report to the Colorado Avalanche after being selected in the fifth round of the 2026 NHL Draft at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. Rising sophomore defenseman Xavier Veilleux is set to join the New York Islanders’ camp after the organization drafted him in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Draft.

Former Cornell standouts Jonathan Castagna and Hoyt Stanley complete the list of Big Red representatives. Both signed NHL entry-level contracts in March and will return to the organizations that selected them in the 2023 NHL Draft. Castagna will participate in the Calgary Flames’ camp, while Stanley heads to the Ottawa Senators’ development camp.
