Aaron Judge starred on both sides of the ball and Jasson Domínguez powered a late offensive burst as the New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles 11-3 on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees improved to 23-11, while the Orioles dropped to 15-19.
Judge set the tone early with a leaping catch at the wall in right field before launching a two-run home run in the third inning, tying him for the American League lead with 13 homers. Ben Rice added a solo shot in the first, his 12th, but exited in the fourth inning with a left hand contusion. X-rays were negative, and he is considered day-to-day.
Baltimore kept pace early, but New York took control in the sixth. Domínguez doubled and came around to score the go-ahead run, then delivered a home run and an RBI double during a decisive eighth inning. Paul Goldschmidt added a two-run single as the Yankees broke the game open.
Max Fried worked 5.1 innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out six. He left with runners on, but the bullpen held firm. Brent Headrick recorded five key outs to bridge the middle innings and prevent any Orioles rally.
The Yankees wrap up their series against the Orioles on Monday at Yankee Stadium, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Cam Schlittler is scheduled to start for New York against Shane Baz.
