A Geneva man is facing multiple charges after police say he was driving intoxicated and attempted to evade a traffic stop in the Town of Waterloo.
The Waterloo Police Department reported that Jean A. Colon, 32, was arrested around 2:25 a.m. on April 26 following a stop initiated after his vehicle was observed speeding and failing to maintain its lane.
Police said Colon accelerated to nearly 60 mph when officers attempted to stop him before eventually pulling over. Following an investigation, officers determined he was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Authorities said Colon registered a blood alcohol content of 0.15%, nearly twice the legal limit.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a BAC of 0.08% or greater. He was also issued uniform traffic tickets for failure to keep right, unsafe lane movement, speed in zone, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and open container.
Colon is scheduled to appear in the Town of Waterloo Court at a later date.
