Federal and state environmental officials will open the floor to the public next month as cleanup efforts continue at the former Seneca Army Depot, a site long tied to regional environmental concerns.
An information session is scheduled for May 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the depot’s office building on State Route 96 in Romulus, where representatives from the U.S. Army, Environmental Protection Agency, and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will provide updates and answer questions.
Officials say the meeting will cover ongoing environmental investigation and remediation work at the site, including the status of cleanup efforts at the Open Detonation Grounds Munitions Response Site. Long-term monitoring plans and land use controls will also be discussed, along with progress on PFAS-related investigations and potential interim measures to reduce impacts on surface water.

The session is intended to give community members direct access to project leaders and an opportunity to better understand both current conditions and future plans for the former military installation.
Organizers encouraged residents, property owners, and others with an interest in Seneca Lake and surrounding areas to attend and engage with officials overseeing the cleanup process.
