Auburn police say a shoplifting incident at Walmart led to a burglary charge after officers determined the suspect had previously been banned from the store.
Officers were called April 17 to the Walmart on Grant Avenue after asset protection staff reported a shoplifter in custody.
Police identified the suspect as Alexis Burke, 22, of Auburn. According to investigators, Burke had previously been trespassed from the store but returned and allegedly stole merchandise.
Burke was taken into custody and transported to Auburn Police Department headquarters, where she was charged with burglary in the third degree and petit larceny.
She was later taken to the Cayuga County Jail and released following arraignment.
