A key airport expansion is moving forward—but not without a price snag, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Officials in Penn Yan approved major upgrades at the Yates County Airport, including a new hangar project that came in over budget.
Bids for the project exceeded state funding by about $87,000, leaving a small gap officials now need to cover. Leaders say the county could tap its capital fund or adjust materials to stay on track.
Despite the shortfall, the project promises new revenue from hangar leases. Lawmakers will take up final decisions soon, alongside another runway lighting upgrade tied to federal funding approval.
