Dundee man arrested on warrant tied to order of protection violation

A Dundee man was taken into custody this week on charges related to an alleged violation of an order of protection, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

James P. Mahan, 55, was arrested April 13 on an active warrant issued by Starkey Town Court stemming from an incident that occurred April 11 in the Village of Dundee.

Authorities said the arrest took place around 1:30 p.m. on Hamilton Street in Penn Yan. Mahan is charged with aggravated family offense, a felony, and second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.

Following his arrest, Mahan was transported to the Yates County Jail, where he was held pending centralized arraignment.

The sheriff’s office said the incident involved an alleged violation of an existing order of protection. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Penn Yan Police Department.
