Ontario County to host public meeting on draft solid waste management plan

Residents will have a chance to weigh in on how Ontario County handles waste and recycling in the years ahead as officials continue gathering feedback on a new draft plan.

The county’s Department of Sustainability and Solid Waste Management has scheduled a public presentation for April 23 at 6 p.m. at the Phelps Community Center, where officials will outline the proposed local solid waste management plan and answer questions.

The draft plan is currently available for public review and comment as part of a 45-day window that runs through May 4. Officials are encouraging residents to participate in the process and provide input before the plan is finalized.

The meeting is intended to give the public a clearer understanding of the county’s approach to waste reduction, disposal, and long-term sustainability planning, while also offering an opportunity for community feedback.

County officials say public participation will play a key role in shaping the final version of the plan, which is expected to guide local waste management policies and infrastructure decisions moving forward.
