The Cornell Big Red limited the nation’s top-scoring offense to a season low in a 9-7 win over the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday at Shark Stadium.
Cornell (7-3) held Duke, which entered averaging over 16 goals per game, to just seven goals and shut out the Blue Devils in the fourth quarter. The Big Red forced 15 turnovers and allowed only two second-half goals to secure the win.
After trailing 5-4 at halftime, Cornell seized momentum in the third quarter with three goals in a 90-second span. Ryan Goldstein tied the game before Jack Cascadden won the ensuing faceoff and scored seconds later to give Cornell the lead. Brian Luzzi added another to extend the advantage.
Duke cut the deficit to one, but Cornell responded with back-to-back goals from Luke Robinson and Brendan Staub to push the lead to 9-6 late in the third. The Blue Devils scored once more on a man-up opportunity, but Cornell’s defense closed the door in the final quarter, allowing just one shot on goal.
Robinson led the offense with two goals, while Goldstein added a goal and two assists. Seven different players scored for Cornell.

Cornell returns home Monday, April 13, to face High Point Panthers at 12 p.m.
