Nearly a month after a 4-year-old boy died in a Greece murder-suicide, advocates are demanding stronger child safety laws, according to News10NBC.
Supporters want lawmakers to pass Kyra’s Law, which would require courts to weigh abuse allegations in custody cases and appoint attorneys for children when credible claims surface. Jacqueline Franchetti, whose infant daughter Kyra was killed during a custody dispute, says 42 children have died in similar cases over the past decade.
State Sen. George Borrello co-sponsors the bill, which cleared the Senate but stalled in the Assembly. Gov. Kathy Hochul says she’ll review any measure that reaches her desk.
