Crash in Canandaigua sends one to hospital

A snowy drift on County Road 32 caused a 17-year-old driver to lose control and collide head-on with another vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies say Clayton Premo was heading northeast near Hopkins Road around 2:20 p.m. when his 2005 GMC Sierra started fishtailing. He overcorrected, crossed into oncoming traffic, and struck a 2018 Subaru Forester driven by 61-year-old Allan Hannold.

Emergency crews transported Hannold to Strong Memorial Hospital with back, elbow, and leg pain. Premo was not hurt. Deputies cited him for failing to keep right and scheduled him to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.

The road was temporarily closed while investigators worked the scene and removed both vehicles. Cheshire Fire and Canandaigua EMS assisted on site.
