Geneva woman charged with grand larceny after retail theft

A Geneva woman was arrested late this week following a retail theft investigation in Ontario County, according to New York State Police.

Tracey M. Vasquez-Woodhams, 32, was taken into custody after troopers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at a business in the Town of Hopewell.

State police said members of the Troop E Community Stabilization Unit were conducting an organized retail theft detail at a store on Recreation Drive when asset protection employees reported a woman concealing merchandise.

Investigators said the suspect passed all points of sale without paying for the items, which were valued at more than $1,000.

Troopers took the suspect into custody in the store’s parking lot and later identified her as Vasquez-Woodhams.

She was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony, and was processed without incident at State Police in Canandaigua.

Vasquez-Woodhams was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Hopewell Court on April 7 at 6 p.m.
