A long-awaited $36.5 million contract has been awarded to transform Route 36 in Hornell, according to the Evening Tribune.
Construction starts this spring, stretching from Cass Street to I-86, with a 2028 completion date. Early work like tree removal and utility updates begins soon, but major traffic disruptions aren’t expected until later.
The project will add a pedestrian and bike trail, a roundabout, and safer access to busy spots like the Wegmans-Walmart plaza. Officials say it’s a once-in-a-generation upgrade.
