Bayshore man charged after driving stolen vehicle through Ovid intersection

A Long Island man is facing felony charges after deputies say he was found driving a stolen vehicle during an early morning traffic stop in Seneca County.

The arrest happened around 5:01 a.m. on April 14, when Seneca County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle at the Four Corners intersection in the Town of Ovid.

Authorities allege Travis T. Johnson, 32, of Bayshore, was traveling about 50 mph in a 30 mph zone and failed to obey a traffic signal at the intersection. During the stop, deputies determined the vehicle he was operating had been reported stolen out of New York City earlier that same day.

Johnson was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, a Class D felony, along with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, failure to obey a traffic signal, and speeding.

He was transported to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center, where he was processed on the charges.
