Rep. Claudia Tenney used Tax Day to spotlight what she described as sweeping tax relief for families and workers, pointing to provisions enacted under a 2025 federal law backed by Republicans.
The New York Republican said the legislation is already delivering higher take-home pay, larger refunds, and reduced tax burdens for many households, while also aiming to boost long-term economic growth.
According to Tenney’s office, a family of four with two children could see up to $10,900 in increased take-home pay, alongside an estimated 10% rise in average tax refunds. The release also claims that many working-class families earning up to $73,000 now face no federal income tax liability, with average tax cuts around $2,300.
The measure, referred to as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” was signed into law on July 4, 2025. Tenney said it includes provisions eliminating taxes on tips, overtime pay, Social Security benefits, and auto loan interest, while expanding the Child Tax Credit and standard deduction on a permanent basis.
Tenney also pointed to broader economic projections tied to the law, including support for more than 7.2 million jobs and an estimated $1.2 trillion increase in real gross domestic product over the next four years.
“On Tax Day, families across Upstate New York are seeing the real benefits of commonsense tax relief,” Tenney said in a statement. “These policies are putting more money back into the pockets of hardworking Americans, strengthening small businesses, and driving economic growth in communities like ours.”
The announcement comes as taxpayers across the country file their 2025 returns, with federal tax policy and its impacts remaining a central issue in ongoing political and economic debates.
