Penn Yan man charged in Wayne County homicide: Here’s what we know

A Penn Yan man has been formally charged in connection with a Wayne County homicide that occurred more than four years ago.

Wayne County District Attorney Christine Callanan announced that 52-year-old Michael Pryce has been indicted on three counts of second-degree murder in the 2021 death of 75-year-old Mary House of Sodus.

The indictment also includes charges of first-degree burglary, first- and second-degree robbery, third-degree burglary, and fourth-degree grand larceny. Prosecutors said the charges stem from a New York State Police investigation into a string of burglaries in Marion and Sodus during June 2021 that culminated in House’s death.

Callanan said the case was developed with assistance from local law enforcement agencies across Wayne County. She called the arraignment a significant milestone in a long-running investigation, crediting investigators for their persistence.

Pryce had previously been indicted in May on separate burglary and larceny counts related to the same incidents, but those charges were replaced by the new murder indictment. He remains held without bail at the Wayne County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court before Judge Richard Healy on December 12, 2025.
