Deputies say a man who stole merchandise from a Lowe’s store in Waterloo is now facing felony charges after being caught with fake license plates in a separate incident.
Seneca County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 38-year-old Kevin J. Himes of Savannah on September 27 around 4 p.m. in the Town of Junius.
Officials say Himes stole $229 worth of merchandise from the Lowe’s in Waterloo. During the theft, he was reportedly driving a vehicle with a fictitious license plate.
Later, in an unrelated incident, deputies say Himes was found with two forged license plates after driving into a residence in Romulus.
He was charged with petit larceny and three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree — all class D felonies.
Himes was taken to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center and held at the county jail. He’s awaiting arraignment in CAP court.
