An 89-year-old woman died after a dump truck plowed into her Livingston County home and sparked a fire, according to WHAM. Two trucks hauling asphalt collided on Harter Road in Sparta Thursday morning — one veered off and slammed into the house on Culbertson Road.
The woman’s son and their dog escaped, but he couldn’t reach her as flames spread. The truck’s cab landed in the basement, and investigators spent hours searching through the debris.
Family and neighbors described her as vibrant and full of life — she’d just been at Bible study the night before. Both truck drivers were hospitalized.
