Senior goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch turned in a stellar performance with a season-best 10 saves, helping Syracuse women’s soccer earn a 0-0 tie against Princeton on Sunday in New Jersey. The result marked the Orange’s first scoreless draw since last September.
Despite being outshot 31-9, Syracuse stood firm thanks to Vanderbosch’s effort in net. She denied multiple close-range chances, including two first-half stops on Barry Alexander and several acrobatic second-half saves against Nina Cantor and Kayla Wong. Her first stop of the match marked the 300th of her career, moving her into third place on the program’s all-time list with 309 saves.
Syracuse nearly stole the win in the final seconds when Mia Klammer broke free, but her shot sailed high. The Orange’s best earlier opportunity came in the 77th minute, when Vita Naihin’s strike rattled the crossbar.
Syracuse (3-1-2) returns home to host Binghamton on Thursday, September 4.
