Corning man sentenced to 35 years for child abuse material

A Corning man has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for producing child sexual abuse material, according to prosecutors. Ryan M. Newman, 34, was also given 15 years of supervised release following a federal investigation that uncovered disturbing content on his devices.

Newman first came under scrutiny in 2021 when Snapchat flagged an upload to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A later tip led the FBI to link Newman to abuse involving a child in the Corning area. Evidence showed he both created and distributed exploitative content.

This is Newman’s second conviction; he previously served jail time and probation after a 2012 offense. He remains classified as a level three sex offender.
