Yankees embarassed by Dodgers again in blowout loss (highlights)

The New York Yankees’ (35-22) rough trip to Los Angeles continued Saturday night, as they were handed an 18-2 drubbing by the Dodgers (36-22), their second straight loss.

Despite another big night from Aaron Judge, who went 3-for-4 with two home runs, New York couldn’t do much of anything right. Judge provided both of the Yankees’ runs with solo shots in the fourth and eighth innings, giving him 21 homers on the season.

Rookie starter Will Warren struggled from the outset, surrendering four runs in a 39-pitch first inning. He exited in the second after giving up a three-run homer to Max Muncy, lasting just 1.1 innings while allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks. The bullpen offered little relief, as six relievers, including position player Pablo Reyes, combined to allow 11 more runs. Muncy would go deep again in the fifth, finishing with seven RBI.

Offensively, the Yankees mustered just seven hits, with no other batter besides Judge collecting more than one. Dodgers rookie Landon Knack kept the Bronx Bombers quiet, striking out six over six innings of one-run ball.

Box Score

The Yankees will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday when Ryan Yarbrough takes the mound against Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The first pitch slated for 7:10 p.m.
