The Thompson Health Guild has awarded scholarships to six high school seniors pursuing careers in health care, continuing a tradition of supporting the next generation of medical professionals.
The $2,000 scholarships were presented during the Guild’s Annual Dinner on May 22 to students from across the region who plan to enter various health-related fields. Each recipient must complete their first college semester successfully to retain the scholarship.
The honored students include:
- Jackson Farrington of Canandaigua Academy, who will study biology at the University of Maine’s Honor College with plans to become a physician.
- Evan Lin of Geneva High School, who will major in optometry at Binghamton University to pursue a career as an ophthalmologist.
- Chloey Meldrum of Waterloo High School, who is headed to Finger Lakes Community College to become a nurse practitioner.
- Isabella Nellis of Honeoye High School, who plans to become a pharmacist after attending St. John Fisher University.
- Brady O’Keefe of Livonia High School, who will study physical therapy at Nazareth University.
- Sydney Ross of Canandaigua Academy, who will attend Binghamton University with a goal of becoming a biomedical engineer or scientist.
The Thompson Health Guild is the auxiliary arm of UR Medicine Thompson Health. It raises funds to support equipment purchases, capital campaigns, and community programs for patients, residents, staff, and local families.

During the annual meeting, held at Ferris Hills at West Lake, the Guild also presented the F.F. Thompson Foundation with a $40,000 donation to help develop a memory care unit at Clark Meadows, the community’s enriched living facility.
