In the Westhill lacrosse hazing investigation, younger defendants are now facing more serious charges than their 18-year-old teammates, according to CNY Central. The charges include menacing, weapon possession, conspiracy, and unlawful imprisonment.
The April 24 incident involved five victims, one of whom was abducted under threat of a knife and apparent gun. Prosecutors say three of the younger teens also took part in a failed hazing attempt the night before. Their cases are heading to family court.
In contrast, the adult defendants received reduced charges after accepting a surrender deal from District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick. Investigators say the severity of the incident warranted escalating the younger group’s consequences.
