TikTok challenge sparks school evacuations across NY

A dangerous TikTok trend teaching students how to destroy school laptops has led to multiple evacuations, including one at C.W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, according to CNY Central. A Chromebook caught fire at the school, prompting an early dismissal and raising alarms statewide.

Similar incidents occurred in Rochester and Latham, with one student hospitalized for smoke inhalation. Despite efforts by TikTok to block related content, students continue accessing tutorials using tools like the “Chromebook Annihilator Version Two.”

Fire officials and the New York State Education Department have issued warnings, while schools explore disciplinary actions. Local police are investigating the Baldwinsville case.
