The Auburn Enlarged City School District Board of Education approved a $107.3 million budget for 2025–26, featuring a 3.25% tax levy increase, according to The Citizen. The increase stays within the state’s tax cap and aims to ensure financial stability amid uncertainty over state aid.
The proposal includes funding for summer school, a part-time music teacher, and expanded special education services. Voters will also decide on a $7.2 million ventilator replacement project that won’t impact taxes. The vote is set for May 20.
Former board president Ian Phillips was appointed to temporarily fill a vacancy until the election. One board member opposed the move, questioning its timing and relevance.
