A Rochester-based company, Norbut Solar Farms, has proposed building a solar farm in Walworth, but local residents are pushing back over concerns about wildlife, wetlands, and the rural landscape.
According to RochesterFirst.com the project would be located on vacant farmland near Kuttruff Road and Atlantic Avenue. Town Supervisor Mike Donalty tells RochesterFirst the area’s appeal for solar development but emphasized the tax revenue benefits. Opponents argue the installation would disrupt the ecosystem and change the town’s character.
The proposal is under review by Walworth’s Planning Board before heading to the Town Board for final approval. Norbut has yet to respond to requests for comment.
