Cornell University has amended its contract with Tompkins County Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT), reducing the risk of financial penalties for the bus company amid ongoing staffing and maintenance challenges.
Previously, TCAT faced financial penalties if it failed to meet service thresholds, with Cornell reducing payments accordingly. According to The Ithaca Voice, the new agreement lowers the required service hours for fall and spring semesters from 1,100 to 990 per week and increases summer hours to 890 per week.
The amended contract reflects a more cooperative relationship between Cornell and TCAT, emphasizing mutual goals. The TCAT Board of Directors approved the agreement on June 25.
