The Auburn Police Department will benefit from a state grant aimed at enhancing its equipment and technology. Chief James Slayton informed city council on Thursday about the $122,500 award from the state Division of Criminal Justice Services’ Law Enforcement Technology program.
The funds will be used to install additional cameras at key entry and exit points in the city. This grant is part of a broader state initiative, with $127 million awarded to 378 law enforcement agencies outside New York City.
In Cayuga County, the sheriff’s office received $117,526, and the Weedsport Police Department was granted $95,000.
