Seneca County Sheriff’s Office will participate in statewide STOP-DWI campaign

  • Staff Report

Seneca County will participate in the statewide STOP-DWI Memorial Day Weekend “High Visibility Engagement Campaign” from May 24 to May 27, 2024. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving during one of the busiest travel holidays of the year.

Seneca County Sheriff and STOP-DWI Coordinator Timothy J. Thompson, Jr. announced that local police agencies and STOP-DWI Coordinators will join forces with New York State Police, County Sheriffs, and municipal law enforcement in this coordinated effort to reduce impaired driving-related injuries and deaths. “Enjoy this special weekend but make smart decisions. Please drink responsibly and have a plan. Do not make a mistake that you will regret,” Thompson stated.

The campaign is part of a series of statewide initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, targeting major holidays and events throughout the year. For a safe ride home, download the “Have a Plan” mobile app at www.stopdwi.org/mobileapp.
