Cannabis growers in New York are facing significant financial difficulties due to delays in the licensing of new dispensaries, with concerns intensifying as the state budget deadline on April 15 draws near.

In response to these challenges, New York state is considering a proposal that could provide crucial support to the struggling cannabis sector. The proposed cannabis relief fund includes $60 million in loans, $40 million in grants, and $28 million in tax refunds, aimed at helping growers offset their losses amid ongoing delays.

Growers remains hopeful that the relief fund will be included in the final state budget, offering a lifeline to growers who are considering returning to traditional farming due to financial pressures. The support would help maintain the industry and prevent a shift towards the illicit market, ensuring that licensed growers like Halton can continue their operations.
