The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Canandaigua man for child endangerment and menacing after an investigation earlier this week.

On Monday, Francis Paul Smith, 63, of Canandaigua, was arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Menacing in the second degree. The arrest occurred following a report of family trouble at the intersection of Parkside Drive and Brahm Road.

Authorities determined that Smith had threatened a 7-year-old child by placing a pocket knife to the child’s throat. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment at CAP Court.
